Dr. Swathi Rao

Designation

Veterinarian

Dr. Swathi Rao - Doctor, Cessna Lifeline Veterinary Hospital, Sadashivnagar – Bengaluru

“I rescued my first cat when I was 10 and I knew then that I wanted to be a veterinarian. The whole process was just so beautiful” says Dr. Swathi, who has completed her B.V. Sc from Nagpur Veterinary College. She had also attended several courses on Dermatology and Ultrasound in the UK and USA.

“When I rescued the cat at age 10, I was not only awestruck by the profession, but also by the veterinarian handling the cat, Dr. Makarand Chausalkar in Mumbai. I knew I wanted to work with him when I grew up.” And she did just that for about 2.5 years, before she moved to Bengaluru and worked with a private clinic for 5 years. She joined Cessna Lifeline in July 2020, where she worked at the Domlur OPD for a few months before moving to Sadashivnagar.

“What I really like about working at Cessna Lifeline is the structure. You get to focus on what you are good at because it is highly organized and structured. The people too are supportive and approachable."

Talking about veterinary practice in India, Dr. Swathi says we have come a long way and still have a long way to go. “We are slowly but surely getting there” she says. She believes we will see much more development in the areas of internal medicine, surgery, and diagnostics in the next 5 years.

She is currently pursuing a 6-month homeopathy course and looking for ways to incorporate it into her normal practice. She again thanks Dr. Ramesh for guiding and pushing her towards her goals. “More people are preferring holistic treatment. I see homeopathy playing a supporting role in overall treatment for pets and I want to integrate this as much as possible.” She also continues to pursue her studies in Ultrasound and Scanning.

During her free time, she loves to ride her husband’s bike, paint, and dance.

You can interact with Dr. Swathi at our Sadashivnagar, Bengaluru branch and get to know her better!
