M.V. Sc with a specialization in Pharmacology and Toxicology

“My grandfather, Dr. G. Basavaraj, was part of the second batch of veterinarians back in 1965, and was also joint director, animal husbandry in Karnataka who really inspired me to become a vet”

Having done his B.V. Sc and A.H. from Bidar Veterinary College, Karnataka in 2016 and M.V. Sc from IVRI, UP in July 2018, Dr. Amruthanand wanted to pursue his Ph.D. in Australia. In 2018, he started working as a research scientist and toxicologist in Advinus therapeutics, TATA enterprise. It was during this time that he decided to take the clinical route instead (like his grandfather) and joined Cessna Lifeline in January 2020.

Here, he has worked in several departments including working for 3 months at the Sadashivnagar branch before rejoining Domlur, where he takes care of emergencies, critical care, and monitoring in the night. He has also assisted with surgeries during the night shift.
Apart from performing more minor surgeries, he would also like to work with cancer patients he says. Joining Cessna Lifeline has been a dream for him as he can really apply what he has learnt. “I could not have asked for anything better” he says.

“I am grateful to Dr. Ramesh and Dr. Pawan for guiding me through cases during the night shift.

Dr. Ramachandran as well has been instrumental in training me an emergency vet and I am thankful to all of them” he says.

Dr. Amruthanand says he is happy to see so many people taking in pets and so there is a need to expand the practice in India. “Here, we have many facilities that we provide, but there is a lot more to do.

Dr. Amruthanand is a qualified violinist since the age of 11 and loves to play cricket. He also loves spending time with his pet Doberman, Agasthya.
