Dr. Roja Patil

Designation

Veterinarian

Dr. Roja Patil – Doctor, Cessna Lifeline Veterinary Hospital, Electronic City – Bengaluru

“My father inspired me to join veterinary sciences. He felt veterinarians are blessed to be treating voiceless creatures and so I decided to become a vet.”

Dr. Roja, who completed her B.V. Sc from Veterinary College, Shimoga in 2018, says becoming a vet is one of the best decisions she could have made.

Shortly after graduating, she joined Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) and was in the large animal space before joining Cessna Lifeline in February 2020.

“Cessna Lifeline was very well known amongst us students, and so when I saw the Facebook post about a position for a veterinarian with Cessna Lifeline, I applied and got through.”

She has since worked in the IPD space, first in Domlur during the night shift, and after 8 months, she moved to the Electronic City branch where she still spends her time within the IPD space. She also takes up OPD cases when she has the time.

Her nursing skills are excellent, and she looks forward to taking care of all the pets in IPD she says.

“I am also learning a lot about client handling and communication. In terms of diagnostics too, I never knew that so much was being done and clients are supportive and cooperate with the doctor’s diagnosis.”

Soon, she would like to pursue advanced studies in the field of Ultrasonography and become a specialist.

Dr. Roja greatly appreciates the client experience, and believes clients are very aware and that makes for constructive conversations about their pets. “Google has made for a plethora of information readily available at client’s fingertips, however I wish to emphasize that, that should not preset the diagnosis. Often, we are compelled to not indulge the information to diagnose soundly. Our clients trust us and that’s a big win for us.”

During her free time, she loves to read, mainly women-oriented novels. She loves the books Sudha Murthy has written. She also likes to travel and is looking forward to traveling to Bhutan or Thailand soon.
